- Long and slender
- 1/2 in. long
- Silver to gray and shiny
- Covered in scales
- Wingless
- Long antennae and 3 thread-like appendages at the end of the abdomen
- Abdomen tapers at the end giving it a fish-like appearance
- Likes damp, cool places; common in attics especially if there are boxes of books
- Eats foods containing proteins or carbohydrates like dried beef, flour, starch, sugar, paper, dead insects, and linen
