• Also called a woods roach or waterbug
• 1 ¼ in. long
• Shiny, dark, uniform mahogany color
• Able to fly short distances
• Mostly found in the southern parts of the U.S.; prefers tropical areas
• Likes warm, dark, damp, poorly ventilated areas
• Lives in leaf litter, mulch, sheds, drains, greenhouses, subfloors
• Eats plants and other organic matter
