Fire Ant

OVERVIEW

• 2-6 mm in length
• Dark reddish brown
• Very aggressive
• Feeds on plant or animal material
• Like moisture and build mound nests in soil near river banks, ponds, watered lawns, and highway edges
• Painful sting that often results in a raised welt that becomes a white pustule
• Can have as many as 250,000 workers in a colony
